Day 4 of one pic/day: Desert Rose

A picture done inspired by Stings song Desert Rose.

Todays drawing is a step away from what I normally do. One of my aims today was to capture the emotion of the original picture, and keep it loose and fast.

Yet another drawing

Tried to focus a bit more on detail. Not sure that was a good idea, next time I will aim for more work on proportions.

Face-drawing

A face-drawing. I used a pic of Christian Bale as a reference.. It doesn't show though ;-)

Drawing from picture

This is an attempt to draw a figure from a picture. Among other things, to practice my ability to observe, and also to bridge the gap between drawing from my mind and drawing from life. I tried to use the same workflow here as I do when drawing from my mind, that is, I start with a centre line, build a skeleton, ribcage etc.

Looking at it, I realise I need lots of practice!

Sketching to catch movement

This is a sketch I made where I tried to get a sense of movement and tension. Done in photoshop with a wacom board.
